WAITING
It is, some say
the mark of the writer:
a collection of pens
on or near a desk
in a cup, or glass jar
or possibly an empty can.
All are impatient, most
have been ignored lately,
at least those not waiting
for their own ink cartridges
that never get ordered.
They whisper that they
are full of words which
they would gladly spill fourth,
all but the one
that the writer selects
at any point in time.
