SARAH THURSDAY

You said, I miss you like
I was supposed to lay those words
on a kitchen counter between us.
Like I miss you wasn’t meant for the bedroom.
You text confessions like
I am supposed to grant you forgiveness.
Like your secrets aren’t a bare chest
in a quiet room we’re alone in.
You say you’re leaving her.
Like you’re the first man
who thought I’d wait for him.
Like I am a landing you come to rest on.
Like I am place and not woman
wanting my own escape.
My own confessions.
My own forgiveness.
