DIANA RAAB

I believe in the stars
and restful Sundays,
the bagels and cream cheese
dad and I picked up
at the local bagel shop
when I was a child,
and now, a glass of pinot grigio
on a sweltering summer day,
fresh cut flowers
in my favorite etched vase.

I am not a fan of Christmas
as dad died one day earlier,
but I love to celebrate birthdays
and oh how I love Mondays
as they feel like
the start of something new;
like keys to open new doors,
and I do love baking chocolate cake
for all my family to feast on
and of course who doesn’t
believe in heavenly love?
