GOOD MOURNING

While sitting out for some hidden sun rays,
I see a mourning dove.
It was sitting on an electric wire,
high above me like always.
I haven’t seen one of these birds, since my father died.
Another family member passed away this year,
maybe this was her way of saying hello.
I have been thinking a lot about my Dad lately.
I felt like I was forgetting him and it made me sad.
The seasons changed and so have I.
I hope he’s proud of the woman I’ve become.

BASKING IN THE CREATIVITY

Lounging in an old church.
Here for a wedding,
but really here for the aesthetic.
A friend is getting married.
What a pretty bride to be.
This church is also pretty,
pretty famous.
It was used for a popular music video,
a very long time ago.
I’m not ashamed to admit, I recreated some scenes.
