Peninsula: Second Day of Spring
The second day of spring
big wind, big rain
the ground’s a sump
not fit for tromping
even seagulls madly flap
for purchase
in this swirl, this swamp.
What Birds
What birds are these inky V’s
against the morning sky?
I wish my camera were nearby
to capture their grand flight,
but no, just my paltry sight.
I am dismayed to look away
with only memory’s faulty room
to hold the marvel I see, and love,
but cannot praise by name.
