DONNA HILBERT

My Girl

My summer girl wears
her hair undone,
goes from nightgown
to bathing suit and back again,
cares nothing for exercise,
but swims miles across the bay
for fun. Her days are long
like the Russian novels she reads
on the beach. She must be
called indoors to eat.
Everywhere she walks,
she leaves a trail of sand.
